News Flash
Autumn, noun:
1. the season in MN when leaves fall to
the ground and plants die. People go for drives to see
the colorful leaves.
2. the season when Bright Lights meetings
resume. A time to send our roots down deeper and to grow in
faith and obedience to Christ. (Check out Psalm 1!) All of this
is so that people will see Jesus in us and glorify our Father in
heaven.

Don’t
let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an
example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith,
and in purity.

What is Bright Lights?
Bright Lights began in May of 1996 as a small
discipleship group for girls in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Since that first
meeting, Bright Lights has seen God’s hand of direction and blessing
in many ways. It has been exciting to see many young ladies make
commitments to seek the Lord and shine their light brightly for Him.
There are now over 300 groups nationwide with
more starting every year. Bright Lights continues to train leaders,
host Strong in the Lord conferences, and provide discipleship
material for moms and daughters.
The Stowman girls began the Rothsay Bright Lights group
in March of 2007, and the Fergus Falls group followed in September of
2007.
What is the Purpose of a Bright
Lights Group?
-
To encourage the pursuit of Godliness
-
To provide positive peer pressure and accountability
during these important decision-making years
-
To have a group which will minister to others
What is a Bright Lights Meeting
Like?
At each meeting, the leader shares a lesson covering
Biblical principles, character traits of Godliness, and other topics
that will be essential for us if we want to be strong for the Lord in
our youth. Bright Lights groups also enjoy singing, fellowship,
biographies, activities, and snacks. If you began coming to Bright
Lights, you would receive a Bright Lights notebook, and then at each
meeting you would receive that week’s lesson to add to your notebook.

What
is a "Bright Light"?
It is a
girl who knows the right way to respond to people and
circumstances. She has Biblical convictions and commitments and is
able to go through her teenage years strong for the Lord without
stumbling as many girls do. She also touches the lives of others
by her servant’s spirit and the message of eternal life through
Jesus Christ. God wants bright lights! There is a great need for
more of them in this generation of darkness. |
Notes from Bright Lights
Girls:
~"Through
Bright Lights, I have drawn closer to the Lord and learned to love
Him much more than I did before. [The] teaching and the fellowship
of other like-minded girls have encouraged me to be different than
the world, to realize what is really important, and to keep myself
pure in order to be a Bright Light for Jesus in my youth."
~"Bright Lights has
encouraged me a lot. Some meetings seem to have been written for
me at the time that I needed them most. ."
